Purpose of the Position:
This position is with Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering corporate engineering division based in Asia. The role will support all Corning Incorporated divisions and manufacturing facilities in Asia, Indo-Pacific and US. Project assignments will require extensive travel to Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Japan, and US. To be successful in this role, the right candidate must build strong technical linkage within the Corning Technology Community and the different Engineering groups across Asia and in US. He or she must also drive vendors to fabricate automation systems and process equipment to meet Corning specifications and process requirements for manufacturing.

Project involved with:
Projects focus on implementing robust, cost-effective automation and process equipment for Corning manufacturing locations. Projects also require extensive collaboration with manufacturing, control / measurement / software systems, process engineering, and other related organizations.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
•Work independently to develop material handling automation, process equipment design concepts and detail mechanisms in response to manufacturing needs, issues, or problems.
•Conduct engineering analysis to deliver robust and cost-effective solutions for fixture / gripper design, material handling, process equipment, and process improvement projects.
•Provide directions to machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers on design and fabrication of prototypes, production equipment and material handling automation. Proactively participate in design reviews, check-out, installation, debug, and production start-up. Deliver integrated equipment systems to internal customers on-time, on-budget, and on process performance targets.
•Perform tests and evaluate data to make recommendations on automation and equipment performance.
•Collect and analyze material handling or process needs to select suitable off-the-shelf automation such as industrial robots, collaborative robots, AMRs, AGVs, etc.
•Program, teach, integrate, and troubleshoot off-the-shelf automation like robots, AMRs, etc. with connecting process equipment, conveyors, and buffers.
•Communicate ideas and project status clearly and professionally in writing and orally.
Provide necessary documentation of activities, results, procedures, project scope, and assignment status.
•Execute project assignments with minimal supervision.
•Responsible for the accuracy of work performed; proactively ensures high quality of work.

【Education & Experience】
▪BS or above degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related fielded.
▪3+ years of combined work experience in mechanical design, equipment build / prototyping, and automation programming, integration, installation, debug and machine tuning.
【Required Skills】
▪Proficient in AutoCAD or SolidWorks / Inventor.
▪Experience in equipment design: conceptualization, material selection, prototyping & testing…etc.
▪Mechanical drawing comprehension
▪Manufacturing processes: milling, turning, grinding, sheet metal, etc.
▪Knowledge of material properties and suitable application in equipment design
▪Automation and process equipment concept development.
▪Detail oriented and able to perform with limited supervision.
▪Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office).
▪Customer and service-oriented; meets customer needs with good results and quality in deliverables.
▪Ability to build effective working relationships with others.
▪Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
▪Ability to contribute to the development of others.
▪Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner.
【Desired Skills】
▪Experience with automation integration such as industrial robots, collaborative robots, AGVs, AMRs, linear motor conveyors and machine vision.
▪Robot motion and automation system simulation using RoboGuide, RobotStudio, Visual Components or Emulate3D.
▪Project management
▪Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
▪CAD/CAM capability especially for CNC applications
▪Industrial safety standards
